Ian Lowe
Ian Lowe is Emeritus Professor of Science, Technology and Society at Griffith University and has published widely on issues related to sustainability. He directed the Commission for the Future in 1988 and chaired the advisory body that produced the first national report on the state of the environment. In 2000 Prof Lowe received the Queensland Premier's Millennium Award for Excellence in Science and the Prime Minister's Environmental Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement. He was awarded the Order of Australia for services to science and technology, especially environmental studies, and for contributing to public debate of environmental issues. Amongst other titles he has published: Living in the Greenhouse (1989); Our Universities are Turning us into the Ignorant Country (1994); [with Fay Gale] Changing Australia (1991); [with four co-authors] Science, Technology and Society ?? Introduction (1998).
