David Malin

Until recently David Malin was an astronomer and photographic scientist at the Anglo-Australian Observatory. His innovative imaging techniques have uncovered two new types of galaxies and contributed to many other scientific discoveries. These same techniques reveal that parts of the cosmos are strongly coloured and astonishingly beautiful even though the form and colour of distant galaxies and nebulae is never seen directly. David Malin has authored or co-authored seven books and his astronomical photographs have been widely published and exhibited.
