Partnerships - Introduction

Welcome - Amanda McDonald Crowley

I would like to acknowledge and thank the Kaurna people for welcoming us all here today to their land and introduce Dr Terry Cutler, Chair Australia Council.

Introduction - Terry Cutler

This is the first in a series of symposia, and it's really exciting that on Friday night we opened the conVerge exhibition of creative works at the Art Gallery of South Australia.

I remember back when I first got into technology work. It was part of a multidisciplinary think tank in 1975, to look at what was then called "where the world of networking would be in the year 2000". We struggled to work out how electrical engineers for example would talk to people from the arts and social sciences in a creative dialogue. This was a theme of partnership and how to develop cross disciplinary collaborations and move beyond that to actually develop 21st Century teams of people in the journey of creative discovery and investigation.

So it is a great theme we have today and a great panel.

Their mission is;

- to give us some insights into the highly perspective points of intersection between art/science/technology and how we can create an opportunity for partnership

- what are some of the partnerships they've been personally engaged in or have seen

- what are some of the problems in actually developing really effective partnerships in this area and

- how can we pull down some of the barriers and collaborate better in partnership.
